Millions Tune In as Cangzhou's Wuqiao International Circus Festival 24-Hour Global Livestream

CANGZHOU, China, Oct. 10, 2025 -- From September 28 to 30, the 20th China Wuqiao International Circus Festival was streamed live for three days, totaling 24 hours, via the Xinhuanet App, Enjoy Hebei Facebook account, and Cangzhou YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram accounts.

The Wuqiao International Circus Festival ranks among the world's top three circus events, alongside the International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo and the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain. The global livestream offered audiences a close-up view of this long-standing performing art while highlighting its host location: Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, the birthplace and stronghold of Chinese acrobatics with over two millennia of history.

 

Founded in 1987, it is the first time that the main festival was held in Wuqiao County, the renowned "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics." A total of 28 delegations from 19 countries and regions participated in the international circus competitions.

 

The live broadcast featured a trilingual hosting team of 10, including Xinhuanet host Alexandra, Influencer Baobao Xiong, hosts Yegur and Tina, as well as students from Communication University of Zhejiang and Yanching Institute of Technology. The hosts provided professional commentary and engaging interactions, delivering an immersive experience to audiences worldwide.

 

During the live event, social media engagement was strong, generating over 200 million views and sparking global discussions about acrobatic arts.

 

Acrobats Motus Teeboard from Denmark said during the live interview, "Wuqiao is a very special place with a rich acrobatic history. We are thrilled to meet Chinese performers."

 

American influencer Baobao Xiong, while learning magic tricks from master Liu Fuqiang, says, "Is this really Chinese magic? If I learn this, I'm basically Chinese too!"

 

Youtube user Lana de Ray comments, "This deserves to go viral."
