[ 메디채널 김갑성 기자 ] 중국 상하이 및 난징, 미국 샌프란시스코 2025년 7월 10일 -- 혁신적인 세포 치료제 및 생물학적 제제의 발견•개발•제조•상용화를 전문으로 하는 바이오제약 기업 IASO 바이오테라퓨틱스(IASO Biotherapeutics, 이하 'IASO 바이오')는 9일 자사가 개발한 항-BCMA CAR-T 세포 치료제 Equecabtagene Autoleucel(Fucaso)가 한국 식품의약품안전처로부터 프로테아좀 억제제와 면역조절제를 포함해 최소 세 가지 이상의 치료제를 투여받은 적이 있는 재발성 또는 불응성 다발성골수종(R/R MM) 성인 환자의 치료제로 '희귀의약품 지정(Orphan Drug Designation•ODD)'을 받았다고 밝혔다. 현재 식약처는 희귀의약품 지정에 대해 이중 기준으로 적용하고 있다. 첫째는 국내 환자 수(유병 인구)가 2만 명 이하인 질환에 사용되는 의약품이어야 하고, 둘째는 적절한 치료법이나 의약품이 개발되지 않았거나 기존 대체 의약품에 비해 안전성이나 유효성이 현저히 개선된 경우여야 한다. 한국은 '해외에서 사용 가능하지만 국내에서는 사용되지 않는' 희귀의약품에 대해 수입을 촉진하는
